Paul Haywood is a freelance photographer and also a photography technician at Staffordshire University. He studied Art & Design at Stafford College and moved to Bristol to study at the University of the West of England where he gained a BA Hon’s in Fine Art (specialising in documentary photography & filmmaking).
He started his professional career making promotional & documentary films as well as teaching in filmmaking workshops. He had always produced photographic work when filmmaking and after securing more photography commissions decided to focus primarily on his photographic work. He moved to Manchester in 2005 where he worked as a freelance photographer and completed a Masters in photography at the University of Bolton.
After he finished his Masters he felt it was a time in his life when he needed to expand his travel photography skills and headed off on a long travel expedition with the intention of finishing it in New Zealand. Whilst living in NZ he worked at Auckland University for 2 years as a 'Photography & Moving Image' technician where he had the opportunity to teach a number of creative students. He has since moved back to the UK and is currently working at Staffordshire University and as a freelance photographer.
Other than photography he is usually out skateboarding, going to the cinema, travelling in the campervan, or enjoying time with the family.
He is always interested in attaining commissioned work so please contact him if you have any proposals or questions.
